Commitr is a simple app: you set a reward, set a real running distance for it, and Commitr tracks your progress using your own running data. This page explains, in plain terms, what the app looks at and what it does with it.
What Commitr reads from Health Connect
To check that you actually ran, Commitr reads two things from Android Health Connect:
- Your running sessions (so it knows a run happened, and when, and whether it was recorded automatically or entered by hand, since hand-entered runs don't count).
- The distance covered during those sessions.
That's the only thing Commitr asks Health Connect for. Access is read-only: Commitr can look at this data, but it can never add, change, or delete anything in your Health Connect records.
What you enter yourself
When you set a reward, you choose:
- A name for the reward.
- How much it costs, so the app can show your progress in dollars.
- The distance you're running it for.
- Optionally, a photo of the reward, picked from your own device.
The photo isn't copied or uploaded anywhere. Commitr just keeps permission to show the photo you already picked from your phone's gallery or camera.
Your Cart
You can save things you want to buy by sharing a link to Commitr. For each item, Commitr keeps:
- The link you shared.
- A name and a price, which you can edit.
- A photo, either one you pick or one taken from the product page.
All of this is stored only on your phone, like everything else.
Links you share
When you share a link to Commitr, the app opens that page directly from your phone to read its title, photo, and price, and fetches the shop's small icon for your Cart. These requests go to the shop's own website, the same as opening the link in a browser. They don't pass through any server of ours, because we don't have one, and they don't go to any third-party service.
What Commitr doesn't do
- No accounts. There's nothing to sign up for, and no password to lose.
- No ads, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind.
- No server of its own. Commitr has no backend, so your data isn't sent to us. The only network requests are the ones described under "Links you share."
- No selling or sharing your data. We have nothing to sell and no one to share it with.
- No GPS routes or maps. Commitr only reads that a run happened and how far it went.
- No payment or card information, because Commitr never processes a payment.
Where your data actually lives
Everything Commitr knows about you, your reward, your Cart, your distance, and your running history, is stored only on your phone. If you uninstall the app, that data is gone with it.
Notifications
If you turn on streak reminders in Settings, Commitr can remind you on your phone when your streak is about to end. That reminder is created entirely on your device; nothing is sent to or through a server to deliver it. You can turn it off anytime from Settings, or from your phone's own notification settings.
Your control over this
- You can turn off Commitr's Health Connect access at any time from Settings, or from the Health Connect app itself.
- You can turn off streak reminders at any time from Settings.
- You can delete everything Commitr has by uninstalling the app.
Children
Commitr isn't directed at children, and it doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

If this policy ever changes, the date at the top of this page will change with it. Since Commitr has no accounts, there's no way to email you directly. Check back here if you want to stay current.
